According to Transfermarkt, English players accounted for €1.08 billion in transfer fees this summer, the highest total of any nationality worldwide.

Among the top 20 player nationalities by transfer fees this summer, England leads with €1.08 billion as of September 3rd, according to Transfermarkt statistics.
The 2024 summer transfer window saw significant activity, with record spending concentrated among Premier League clubs. Now that the window has closed, Transfermarkt has analyzed transfer fee data by player nationality.
Most Expensive Nationalities
England unsurprisingly ranks first. English players generated €1.08 billion in transfer fees throughout the summer, with Morgan Rogers' €138 million move to Chelsea and Elliott Anderson's €135 million transfer to Man City representing the two most expensive deals. The so-called "English tax" appears to be a genuine market phenomenon.
Spain ranks second with €785 million in total transfer fees, highlighted by Rodri's €60 million move to Barcelona. France follows closely in third with €784 million, led by Barcola's €125 million transfer.
Brazil ranks fourth with €608 million, while Argentina follows in fifth with €552 million. Portugal is sixth with €505 million, the Netherlands seventh with €491 million, Italy eighth with €450 million, and Belgium ninth with €438 million.
Ivory Coast is the highest-ranked African nation in the top ten, placing 10th with €381 million, largely driven by Yan Diomande's €125 million transfer to Real Madrid.
