Yesterday, Deportivo Alavés officially announced that team defender Facundo Garcés has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will undergo surgery soon.

It is worth mentioning that another Deportivo Alavés player, Mikel Rodríguez, suffered the same injury on September 3, also a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Mikel Rodríguez just joined Deportivo Alavés from Real Sociedad this summer. Upon joining the team, he gained the trust of coach Flores, starting two of the first three matches and scoring 1 goal, but the cruciate ligament injury forced his development path to be interrupted.

Facundo Garcés was banned by FIFA last season due to involvement in an illegal naturalization incident. He was originally scheduled to return from his ban in October but suffered a severe injury before his return.
