Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has promised to dye his hair with red highlights if the Gunners successfully defend their Premier League title this season

Declan Rice has promised to dye his hair with red highlights if Arsenal win the Premier League title again. The Gunners romped to their first top flight in 22 years last season with Rice featuring in all-but two of their league fixtures as Mikel Arteta's side finished seven points ahead of runners-up Manchester United.

Arsenal are the bookmakers' favourites to win the title this season and have enjoyed a perfect start, earning three straight wins and conceding just one goal in the process. They kicked off their campaign with a 3-0 triumph over Coventry City and have subsequently followed that up by beating Aston Villa 1-0 and Chelsea 2-1.

It's a start that leaves them in second in the Premier League table, the same as City, though Enzo Maresca's side occupy top spot having scored one more goal. Hull City, meanwhile, have been the surprise package and sit third on seven points, with Chelsea are in fourth on six points and Brentford rounding out the top five on five points.

Earlier this week, England midfielder Rice was questioned by a young Arsenal supporter about whether he would dye his hair should the Gunners claim the Premier League crown again. When Rice pushed back to ask what colour they had in mind, the fan enthusiastically replied: "Red and white."

Rice then decided to propose a compromise to the supporter, stating he would be willing to have "red highlights in" should Arsenal win the title for the second successive season.

After the fan accepted the arrangement, Rice concluded: "Yes. Buzzing."

Having secured maximum points from their opening three Premier League fixtures, Arsenal now shift their focus to the Champions League, with the Gunners set to face Napoli on Wednesday.

Ahead of the trip to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Arteta said: "I'm really excited. We know what this competition means to all of us, the experience of last year as well, so we need to start with the first game in a really, really tough place, but really excited to start the campaign.

"Start well tomorrow; that's the only thing we can do. Start by putting in a big performance tomorrow to increase the probability of winning the game."
