Russian striker Aleksandr Sobolev has emerged as a January target for Manchester United as the club seek to bolster their forward options.

The former Russian Under-21 star joins a shortlist of players including Callum Wilson, Mario Mandzukic and Moussa Dembele.

Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he needs to strengthen upfront after letting Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave the club for Inter Milan in the summer.

Sobolev, 22, has impressed in the Russian Premier League with nine goals so far for Krylia Sovetov.

He has yet to make his senior debut for Russia, but would command a fee in the region of £15million - making him a cheaper option than the alternatives.
