According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus is developing a transfer plan to increase the number of Italian players in its squad. CEO Giovanni Carnevali aims to reshape the team's Italian core, with Liverpool defender Leone, Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour, and Frosinone goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani among those on the transfer list.

In the previous summer transfer window, out of 10 new signings, eight held foreign passports, with only Gatti and Vicario being Italian players. Carnevali hopes to change this situation and bring more Italian players back into the squad.

On Thursday, local time, Carnevali spoke about Palmisani at the Trento Sports Festival: "Is Palmisani our target? He is a very promising goalkeeper, and he is Italian, which is important because we want to increase the number of Italian players in the squad."

Juventus hopes to address its over-reliance on foreign players by 2027. The club believes that its historical successes have often been built on a core of Italian players. Whether it was Buffon, or the defensive line of Barzagli, Bonucci, and Chiellini, as well as Marchisio, Pirlo, and Del Piero, all played crucial roles during Juventus' glory days.

Although the club is aware that finding successors of comparable caliber to these legendary players is difficult today, it still aims to gradually build a new Italian core, starting with existing players like Locatelli. The relevant transfer plan is expected to commence in January 2025, with a focus on next summer's transfer window.

Currently, Juventus is monitoring Italian players across various positions, including Vicario, who is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, Frosinone goalkeeper Palmisani, Liverpool defender Leone, Brentford full-back Kayode, and Fiorentina's Italy U21 national team midfielder Ndour.

In the goalkeeper position, Vicario's performance has exceeded Juventus's initial expectations. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has not only shown stable shot-stopping abilities and excellent footwork but has also become an important figure in the dressing room. After the team's loss in Reggio Emilia, he voluntarily took responsibility, earning the respect of his teammates and gradually dispelling some fans' doubts about him.

Vicario himself is a Juventus fan and hopes to stay long-term with his dream team. Previously, Juventus pursued foreign goalkeepers like Alisson, Martínez, and Suzuki in the summer transfer window, but the club is now increasingly inclined to make Vicario's move permanent.

Economic factors are also a major reason for Juventus considering keeping him. Reportedly, Juventus would only need to pay Tottenham Hotspur 8 million euros to complete the buyout. Currently, optimism for Vicario staying is growing among all parties.

Meanwhile, Juventus is also preparing for the future. The club hopes to secure Palmisani as early as next January. This young goalkeeper, playing for Frosinone, has recently performed well for the Italy U21 national team and is considered a rising star in Italian football.

Juventus does not believe that the plans for Vicario and Palmisani conflict, and it is even possible for both to be in the squad in the future.

On the defensive line, Juventus is closely monitoring several Italian players in the Premier League. Compared to Arsenal players Calafiori and Tomiyasu, who have already reached high market values and status, making their acquisition very difficult, Juventus prefers to seek opportunities with Leone.

The 19-year-old Leone previously played for Parma and suffered a severe knee injury last season. He is currently in the recovery phase, with Liverpool expecting him to return to action after the international break.

In fact, Juventus had inquired about the possibility of loaning Leone several months ago, but Liverpool did not agree. However, Juventus has not given up. The club's technical director Massara and sporting director Ottoni plan to have scouts track Leone's performance weekly to continuously evaluate his progress.

Another target is 22-year-old Brentford full-back Kayode, who was developed in Juventus' youth system and recently made his debut and scored for the Italian national team under Mancini.

La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Kayode is unlikely to stay long at Brentford, and Juventus has joined the race for him.

The midfield is also a key area for Juventus' future transfers, with the club hoping to improve the team's physicality and dynamism in this position. One target is 22-year-old Fiorentina midfielder Ndour.

Ndour is an Italy U21 national team member with experience playing for different teams, and he has idolized former Juventus midfielder Pogba since childhood. Juventus believes his physical attributes and athleticism align with the team's future midfield development, and he has therefore been added to the scouting list.
