According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Ferrara stated that Italian football and Juventus both need more Italian players as their core, and that the new phase for the Italian national team requires continued effort.

Ciro Ferrara, the former Juventus and Italian national team defender, gave an interview after speaking at the Trentino Sports Festival. Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, the ex-Bianconeri player discussed the current state of Italian football, Juventus, the national team, and young Italian players.

On the overall situation in Italian football, Ferrara emphasized that all teams must build a strong foundation of key Italian players in their squads:

"We are facing difficulties, which is visible both in the national team and in European competitions. Something very important was said today: foreign players are certainly good, but teams need a core of Italian players who can play a decisive role. This applies to all clubs, whether they are fighting for survival or for the title. However, there is still a long way to go."

According to Ferrara, Juventus faces the same problem:

Ferrara stated: "From this perspective, Juventus falls into the same general issue; there is no difference."

The former defender then addressed the new phase of the national team under Roberto Mancini, suggesting that recent signs from the Italian team are positive, but cautioning against excessive optimism:

Ferrara said: "It gives hope, because results bring confidence and strength to face the upcoming challenges. Although the last two matches were well-played, there is still a long way to go."

Finally, Ferrara did not name any specific talented player requiring particular attention, but instead stressed the importance of giving young Italian players continuous playing opportunities and allowing them to make mistakes:

Ferrara stated: "I won't name anyone in particular. I hope everyone can get consistent playing time in their respective teams. Perhaps they will also be allowed to make mistakes, as we all have experienced. Then they will also find success in the national team."
