Former Inter Milan player Antonio Cassano stated in a program that Inter Milan will retain the Serie A title this season, "unless a major disaster occurs."

When asked about Chivu's current status on the "Viva El Futbol" program, Cassano responded, returning to discuss Simone Inzaghi's tenure at Inter Milan: "Simone Inzaghi was praised by the media and most fans in an embarrassing way for four years. We lost three Serie A titles without success, not one, not two. Chivu came in with only 15 substitute appearances as a player at Parma, but he continued Inzaghi's path while bringing new ideas. He won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia."

"This season, unless a shocking disaster occurs, he will win the league title again, because Napoli, the second-strongest team in Italy, is already 6 points behind the top of the table. I don't understand where the doubts about Chivu come from. Inter Milan's style of play in 2010 was unwatchable. The Inzaghi era was good, but we still lost three Serie A titles. Chivu's Inter Milan plays European-style football; he places midfielders like Diouf on the wing-back position. The latter was even selected for the French national team by Zidane because of this. Chivu, be bold, you're doing an outstanding job."

Cassano then took the opportunity, as an Inter Milan fan, to thank Ausilio for his work at the club: "I want to thank Piero Ausilio for everything he has done for the club over the years. He has won many trophies at Inter Milan, and the current team has also been built by him: Diouf, Sučić, and the players who have generated significant capital gains... Inter Milan fans should also thank him."
