Diego Forlan's two-year spell at Manchester United may not have been the most successful of his career but he appears to have made some life-long friends at Old Trafford.

The former Uruguayan striker enjoyed a morning workout on Thursday with two of his former team-mates - Gary and Phil Neville.

The trio are out in Russia covering the World Cup for various broadcasters and met up in the gym as they prepared for another day of football action.

Forlan spent just two-and-a-half years in the Premier League and struggled in front of goal.

He found the back of the net just 17 times in 98 appearances, before enjoying a prolific spell in Spain.

Forlan starred for Villarreal and Atletico Madrid to become one of the most feared marksmen in European football.

He became a talismanic figure for his country, and led them to the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

At 31 he won the Golden Ball for player of the tournament and finished as the joint top scorer, alongside David Villa, Thomas Muller and Wesley Sneijder.
