Fábio Silva stated during his time with the Portuguese national team that he hopes to return to Porto one day.

Once considered a candidate to leave Borussia Dortmund, Fábio Silva has now become a breakthrough player for the club and brought up another team. Just a few weeks ago, his future at Borussia Dortmund was uncertain. Silva was not satisfied with his role behind Guirassy, and a summer departure was once discussed. Then the situation changed: the striker stayed and has had the strongest start to a season in his career so far. After 6 official matches, he has already contributed 4 goals and 1 assist.

Silva revealed that the club he still wishes to play for again is Porto.

Silva said: "Everyone knows I'm a Porto fan, and I've always followed the team closely. What will happen in the future, nobody knows." He continued: "Who knows, if everything goes well, maybe one day I'll play there again." There is a special reason behind this wish. Silva came through Porto's youth academy and was promoted to the first team there. In 2020, at the age of 18, he left his boyhood club to join Wolves for 40 million euros, moving to the Premier League.

Now, this transfer is viewed with some regret by the Borussia Dortmund star. Silva himself stated that his biggest regret was leaving Porto too early. He felt he wasn't fully prepared for a move to England at that time. Subsequently, Silva never managed to establish himself at Wolves and was loaned out multiple times. In 2022, Borussia Dortmund brought him to Germany for 22.5 million euros.

However, his start at Borussia Dortmund was also difficult. This summer, there were signs of a potential departure, but through intensive communication and excellent performances coming off the bench, the situation turned around. Now, Silva is in increasingly good form and sometimes even partners with Guirassy.

However, his statements about Porto do not mean he will quickly leave Borussia Dortmund. Silva's contract with Borussia Dortmund runs until 2030. Still, one thing is clear: for his future, Porto will always hold the most important place in his heart.
