According to AS, Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga acknowledged during France's international break that his career is progressing very quickly, but not as consistently as hoped. He recognizes the need to reduce errors and improve his focus. Despite inconsistent performances last season and missing out on the World Cup squad, Camavinga is determined to succeed at the Bernabéu and has earned the trust of both Zidane and Mourinho.

"From the start of my career, everything has moved very quickly, but Rome wasn't built in a day, and I still have plenty of time ahead of me." Camavinga offered this mature reflection before the international break match against Belgium—a reminder to himself and a message to the outside world. These are not empty words but genuine thoughts. He is acutely aware that, given his potential, his footballing skills have not developed as they should. He still has work to do, particularly regarding his focus. "I need to make fewer mistakes," he said firmly, determined to improve.

Camavinga's situation is intriguing. Once struggling to become a regular starter at Real Madrid, he lost consistency, and last season was complex. He played a total of 2,199 minutes, but his playing time was irregular, preventing him from maintaining stable performances and resulting in fluctuating form. His lowest point came when Deschamps announced the squad: he was left out of the World Cup squad, excluded at the last moment. Watching the tournament from home was difficult and painful to digest, but it sparked change. During his break, he trained relentlessly. Those who know him say this is typical of him, but this time with special motivation.

He pushed himself and set a goal: to reclaim his reputation. He was once seen as destined to dominate France's midfield and become a pillar at Real Madrid. He believes he can turn things around. Despite external discussion, he never considered leaving. Regardless of how many suitors inquired, he knew his desire: to succeed at the Bernabéu. This is his challenge. And he has dual trust: from both Mourinho and Zidane.

In France's new setup under Zidane, the coach has shown his support for Camavinga, going beyond simply selecting him for the squad. Zidane believes that midfielders of Camavinga's type are rare in France; while his physicality is his hallmark, he can also provide excellent support in passing and team organization. Zidane sees him this way and has highlighted this, particularly in the matches against Belgium. First in Brussels: 94% pass completion rate, nearly perfect passing in the opponent's area (41 successful passes out of 42), won 6 duels, regained possession 5 times. Then yesterday, he started again against Belgium. He was not substituted until France began their comeback (replaced in the 88th minute), and he was a barrier: 5 successful duels, 8 ball recoveries, 4 interceptions. He also showed flashes of brilliance in the closing stages of the match against Italy. In the first international break of the new cycle, he started in both legs against Belgium and received widespread praise in the latter match, which cannot be understated. These are positive signs.

These performances have made Mourinho smile. The qualities of the left-footed player from Cabinda, Angola, caught Mourinho's attention last summer. Camavinga was the only player to start every match throughout the entire preseason, and Mourinho has maintained his confidence since the new season began. He is not an unshakeable regular starter, but he is part of the team's machinery (240 minutes played, 2 starts). Though he has not yet fully broken through, the Portuguese manager supports him both personally and publicly. After the away victory against Málaga, Mourinho justified his decision to start Camavinga, saying, "A player who is not well-liked played very well." Mourinho understands that Camavinga is an unpolished diamond, and he wants to refine those edges. After all, he is only 23 years old, and his mentality is as important as everything else. As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day."
