The French captain said: "It's a personal matter, and very private. I think it's something very deep, a choice that must come from the heart and from your life experiences. Everyone has a different relationship with the country they want to represent. When you talk about representing a country, you must talk about your love for that country and your history with it, not just for competitive goals. This question should be asked to those who have experienced it, because it varies from person to person."

Mbappé also discussed his younger brother's situation, as he too might face choices between multiple national teams in his career. Mbappé further elaborated on his views, emphasizing that every player's development experience is important. He stated: "Of course. If you are French, born in France, and have progressed through all levels of the French national teams, I think it's very natural. That's why I say it's very personal. Everyone makes a choice based on their experiences, their upbringing, and their connection to the country. When that choice comes from the heart, it's hard to question or comment on it."
