Luis Diaz sat down with Telemundo Deportes for an exclusive interview at his home, where he discussed his feelings after joining Bayern, the team and his teammates, and his Golden Ball nomination, among other topics. This is the third part of the interview.

I spoke with James Rodríguez before. When he played here, he told me that one thing he really liked about Munich was that you could walk down the street normally, and fans would respect you and give you your space. Do you have the same feeling? Can Luis Diaz walk around normally without constantly being bothered by people?

Yes, absolutely. Of course, sometimes four or five people might come up to you for a photo or autograph, but overall, you can indeed live a very normal life.

For example, you go to a restaurant, and they recognize you and respect you. They might greet you from a distance and then let you enjoy your meal. That feeling is really good.

You can take your kids to the park without having to cover yourself up or go to great lengths to hide, and you can live your life peacefully. This is truly wonderful, because for a football player, sometimes it can be quite difficult in this regard. In Munich, being able to have this kind of life is very important.

Oktoberfest is about to begin, and it's a very important festival here. This will be your second Oktoberfest.

Yes.

Tell me about your experience with this festival. What would you compare it to? For example, someone told me that in terms of importance, it's similar to the Barranquilla Carnival.

Possibly. Oktoberfest is incredibly important here. It's really significant.

I experienced it once last year, but not quite in the way I wanted. I think this year I'll be more involved. I'll participate with my family and some friends here, trying to enjoy the festival more and better understand the culture, because it's truly beautiful. Seeing everyone dressed in traditional Oktoberfest attire is spectacular. It's a wonderful event.

Now let's talk about the World Cup. You spent a lot of time with your teammates, and many Colombian fans followed you to different places. What do you think about the relationship between you and Colombian fans? And how does it feel to represent them?

Our relationship with Colombian fans has always been incredible. There's no doubt about that. Over the past few years, no matter what competition we've participated in, they have always supported us.

They are truly amazing fans. No matter where we go in the world—whether it's a friendly match, Copa América, or the World Cup—they show up. It's remarkable. The passion Colombians have for football is very special; it makes you fall in love with the feeling and constantly motivates you to bring them something more.

You feel like they also deserve a championship, to win something and make history. So I'm always very grateful for their support. I hope they continue to believe in us and support us in this way, because it's obviously very important to us.

From a football perspective, you might not have fully met all expectations. However, the Colombian Football Federation has confirmed that Lorenzo will continue as coach. What do you think about this cycle continuing?

I think it's very good. The coach has led the team through a very solid process, a beautiful process. He has achieved results and put in considerable effort, so he deserves another chance.

Of course, this World Cup didn't turn out as we had hoped, but I think he can do better, and we can do better.

In the coming years, we can continue to move forward. With the coach's cycle continuing and our group of players moving forward, we also need to recognize that we have an excellent coaching staff. So it's our responsibility to achieve better results in the coming years.

Next, let's discuss a topic that might not be as pleasant. After the World Cup, Colombia experienced an earthquake, which we all saw. You were also very active on social media at that time.

Yes.

How did you experience all of this from so far away? And what would you like to say to those affected?

It's difficult, really difficult. Because you can't be there. It's your country, where you were born, and many people were affected. To be honest, for us Colombians, it was a very difficult time.

At that moment, I really wanted to return to my country, but because I was far away, I couldn't. I wanted to help all the affected people. Of course, I don't know if we can help everyone, but I think we organized a very successful fundraiser that helped many people in the affected areas. So I want to offer them encouragement. We know they are still going through a very difficult time, but I will be there, and we will all be there.

The foundation is also doing a lot of work now, helping many affected families in different ways. So I want to tell them and those families to be strong. We will continue to provide help as much as we can, and we are always cheering for them, hoping that everything there will improve.

Finally, two more questions—let's get back to football. There was another outstanding player at the World Cup, also Colombian, but representing Mexico: Julián Quiñones. What impression did he leave on you? For example, would you like to see him play in a league like the Bundesliga? Do you think he has enough potential to establish himself in such a league?

Of course he can. Think about it—I was his teammate when I was in the Colombia U20 team. We participated in South American competitions together. That's where I met him and truly got to know him. He's a very good person and a great guy. He works very hard and is very dedicated.

Of course, he absolutely has that potential. He proved it at the World Cup. He can not only play here but also in any other top league. His potential is very great. I think he can adapt to any league. He has strength and agility. He can score goals, provide assists, and is very involved in the game. So I think he has all the abilities needed to play for a top team.
