On November 9, according to report, in a Nigerian Premier Football League match last night, a player from Barau was attacked with his throat slit by fans of Katsina United.

It is reported that in the 69th minute of the game, after Barau equalized the score, angry Katsina United fans rushed onto the pitch, grabbed Barau's midfielder Abraham, and slit his throat.
According to the online pictures, Abraham was bleeding profusely, and his teammates and team doctor immediately provided treatment and assistance to him.
The official of the Barau team also confirmed the authenticity of the incident. After the throat-slitting incident occurred, the game was also interrupted, and security forces entered the field to maintain order.
According to the latest report, the player who was slashed in the throat did not die.
