Romano stated that Luis de la Fuente is about to sign a new contract that will extend until after the 2030 World Cup, where Spain will be one of the host nations.

Spanish Football Federation President Rafael Lozano announced: "Regarding De la Fuente's contract renewal, we have reached an agreement and are currently in the signing phase."

De la Fuente officially became head coach of Spain in early 2023, leading the team to victory at the World Cup this summer, as well as winning the 2024 European Championship. He previously won the 2023 UEFA Nations League.

According to previous reports from several Spanish media outlets, De la Fuente will receive a salary increase in his new contract, with his salary expected to rank among the top five highest-paid national team coaches in the world.
