In an interview with WSA, Bonucci reflected on key moments in his career, including Guardiola's pursuit and his move to Milan.

Reflecting on career highlights
"The 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons were incredible highs in my career. In 2015, I played in the Champions League final against Barcelona. The Euros in 2016 ended with elimination by Germany in a penalty shootout, where I scored against Neuer. That marked the beginning of an upward trajectory in my career."
Guardiola's pursuit to Manchester City
"Guardiola is the coach whose playing style best suits mine—he builds attacks from the back. Manchester City pursued me for several weeks. Guardiola contacted me personally; it wasn't just a casual pursuit, and you start to waver. It happened during the Euros, and I had to stay focused, but we had discussions even during the tournament."
My deep connection with Juventus
"The idea of leaving Juventus pulled at my heart. Some days I would tell myself, 'The Premier League, Guardiola—this is wonderful'; the next day I would think, 'Juventus has always been my dream.' I must say, my agent Alessandro Lucci helped me tremendously with this decision."
Recalling the move to Milan
"When I transferred to Milan the following year, I didn't perform at the expected level. A series of events in 2017 clouded my judgment. Looking back rationally: I was about to become Juventus' defensive cornerstone, which was my true path."
"At that time, nothing made me feel I had to leave. I was in a comfort zone where I could maintain high-level performance, and leaving made no sense."
Family difficulties after the Euros
"After the Euros, I spoke with Juventus, and it coincided with Matteo's illness. I always believed that by bringing all forces together, good things happen. Matteo's illness, combined with the fact that I wasn't 100% ready to leave Juventus, made it clear."
"Juventus also told me that even if they received an incredible transfer fee, they wouldn't let me go. Staying was the natural outcome. Being coached by Guardiola could have allowed me to develop further tactically and technically, and reflecting on that experience has helped me grow both in football and beyond."
