According to the Manchester Evening News, Wayne Rooney has expressed uncertainty about whether all four of his sons will become professional footballers.

The Man United and England legend has four sons and will offer a candid glimpse into his family life in an upcoming Disney+ documentary.

Currently, Kai is the only one of Wayne and Coleen's sons to have signed a professional football contract. The 16-year-old, who secured a sponsorship deal with Puma at age 12, continues to develop in the Man United academy system.

Thirteen-year-old Klay is also in the Man United academy, while 10-year-old Kit and 8-year-old Cass have shown promise. When asked by The Guardian whether he believed all four sons could turn professional, Rooney simply replied: "I don't know."

Rooney is keen to shield his children from unnecessary pressure. During his career, he made 764 appearances and scored 313 goals, earning 120 caps for England. At Man United, he won 5 Premier League titles and 1 Champions League trophy, claiming 16 trophies in total.

The documentary shows Rooney frequently coaching his sons and playing football with them in the garden. Kai has already featured in Man United's U18 Premier League, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist. However, Rooney has previously been unable to watch his eldest son's matches in person.

During her appearance on "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" in 2024, Coleen revealed that Wayne's fame prevents him from attending his children's matches. She explained that Kai once asked Wayne not to come to a grassroots match because Wayne would be mobbed by fans and unable to watch properly.

Coleen recalled Kai telling his father: "Dad, there's no point in you coming—you can't even watch me play."

She acknowledged it was difficult but felt there was nothing that could be done, noting that fan support had also been instrumental in Rooney's success.

"The Real Rooneys" will premiere on Disney+ on Thursday, September 24, featuring 10 episodes that provide an intimate look at the family's life.
