Michail Antonio has revealed he has no memory of the horrific car crash he was involved in, but the West Ham United striker is still plagued by recurring nightmares.

The 36-year-old former West Ham United striker suffered serious injuries after crashing his £260,000 Ferrari FF into a tree in December 2024.

Antonio suffered a severe leg fracture and was later pulled from the wreckage. However, he defied expectations by returning to the pitch and reviving his career.

But the West Ham United legend revealed that during his recovery, he was often woken by recurring nightmares.

Antonio told reporters: "I'm driving on the road and then a truck suddenly cuts in front of me, and I swerve to avoid it, and then I wake up from my sleep."

"That's the only part I have in my head. But I don't know if that's real, because it could just be a nightmare. So I've never really talked about it."

"Although it happened to me, I didn't really experience it because I don't remember it."

"My family experienced it more than I did, because it wasn't me who actually went through it. They saw the crash, had to go to the hospital, and saw me lying there."

"I don't remember how I was in the hospital, so my family always told me what my condition was like then."

"Sometimes it's really hard to talk to them about it because they have a very clear memory of everything, and I don't."

Antonio joined Watford earlier this month on a free transfer, after his brief spell with Qatari club Al-Sailiya came to an end.

He was an unused substitute against Stoke City and was not in the squad for the match against Bristol City, still awaiting his Watford debut.

The former West Ham United striker, who was released last year, believes therapy played a crucial role in his attempt to revive his career.

Antonio added: "I genuinely believe that therapy is important for everyone."

"Life goes through many stages, and you feel like you need to adapt."

"There should be a mechanism for therapy that is mandatory at every age. At 10, you start thinking about secondary school."

"At 12 or 14, you start thinking about your exams. At 16, you think, do I still want to go to university?"

"As an adult, are you doing a job you're happy with? At 60, you think about retirement. These are all stages where changes happen in your life."

"When you figure out your problems and find the answers, you'll be happier. If others just tell you the answers, you won't feel satisfied because it's too easy."

Last week, Antonio was banned from driving for six months after failing to identify the driver when his Lamborghini was involved in a suspected traffic offense in November of last year.
