Manchester United reports record £677.6m revenue but posts £43m loss

Manchester United has released its financial results for the 2024/25 season, reporting record revenue of £677.6 million, though the club posted a loss of £43 million.

Manchester United recorded record annual revenue of £677.6 million and operating profit of £22.6 million for the 2024/25 season. However, increased debt meant the club reported an overall loss of £43 million, up £10 million from the previous year.

The financial report covers the period to June 30, 2025, and therefore does not fully reflect the latest transfer window activity. The period also coincided with Manchester United's absence from European competition and a period without a training kit sponsor.

Despite strong revenue growth, debt rose from £471.9 million to £577.6 million due to bond refinancing earlier in the year and unfavorable interest rate movements.

While there is optimism at Old Trafford that the club is moving in the right direction, chief executive Omar Berrada has emphasized that strict financial discipline will continue.

Berrada stated: "We are pleased to have achieved record revenues and adjusted EBITDA, which is testament to the underlying strength of our business, particularly in a season without European football."

"This demonstrates the direct impact of the work we have undertaken over the past two years and underscores Manchester United's enduring commercial strength and global appeal."

The report must be deluded to say profit. It is not profit but revenue which after all deductions of cost, wages, tax and other operational expenses, the team is short on £43m counted as loss from the year of account.

Dumb people talking without understanding anything about what's being said here. . Man United is run by business mongrels. Just think about it. Close to 680M revenue means Club have to pay 30% of 680M as taxes to government. But there is a catch. A business running in loss doesn't have to pay the tax. Player and staff salary. it's already taxed from those people. not club. So once that's settled remaining is the profit for the club. Tax on club comes from the business racking up profits. The total wages for players and staffs reach 271M per year. Adding bonuses and benefits it's shown officially as 302M. . So close to 380M is profit. Club spend 251M on signing players and received 70M on sales. . So the total sum for wages + player signing - player sales is 621M. . Thus the club net profit is close to 60M. They added wage taxes into this which account for 43M (which goes from player salaries not from the club) They added operational financial costs as 69M which account for their total loss of 47M. . So in open club lost money but the owners gained a good deal of money in the mean time. as Net loss means they don't have to pay taxes on the commercial deals.
