After more than a year, Alexander-Arnold has returned to Tuchel's call-up list.

After more than a year, Alexander-Arnold will once again wear the England jersey, marking his first inclusion in the senior England squad since June 2023. At the press conference following the announcement of the September and October international squad lists, Tuchel openly stated, "Now, it's his turn to compete for a starting spot."

In this call-up list, the Liverpool full-back returns to the national team after more than a year, a different situation from earlier this year, ahead of the 2024 Euros. Tuchel said: "He didn't do anything wrong; we just chose other players at the time. Now, a new round of competition has begun."

England's first opponent in the UEFA Nations League group stage will be Spain. This match, to be played next Saturday (20:45 local time) at Wembley Stadium, is a significant test for Alexander-Arnold and an excellent opportunity to solidify his position as England's starting right-back. Currently, the competitive pressure he faces is almost at its lowest.

Reece James, Spence, and Ben White are all out due to injury. Livramento, who was initially selected, also withdrew at the last minute. Additionally, Trippier and Kyle Walker, who has retired from the England team, are unavailable. The current squad only includes Quansah and Konsa, both of whom are centre-backs rather than pure right-backs. In Tuchel's final 24-man roster, Alexander-Arnold is the only specialist right-back.

He has already played five matches for Real Madrid this season, starting three of them. The current situation is extremely favorable for him, and he is expected to start at Wembley against reigning world champions Spain.

However, Three Lions coach Tuchel will not simply hand him a starting position: "He has never been out of the selection pool; for us, he has always been eligible. This is his chance to prove his worth, to come to the training camp and be at his best. He has started well this season in two different positions at Real Madrid, and for the national team, he will play as a right-back. He has always expressed his willingness to give his all and fight for a position, especially for England. So, it's his turn to perform and prove himself; we warmly welcome him to the training camp."
