Former Brazilian international and commentator Denilson criticized Brazil's 1-1 draw against Australia, saying that Ancelotti's team made a poor impression in their opening fixture of the 2026 World Cup cycle, according to reports.

Denilson said: "The weight of wearing the Brazil shirt does not diminish, and it only increases the responsibility of representing the country. This shirt is highly iconic worldwide. There are many very young players on the team. We saw Rayan, who has a bright future ahead in the Brazil shirt. But the impression left today was very poor."

He added: "Ancelotti will have a lot of work to do to get this Brazil team playing differently, with a different system and more creativity in midfield, rather than being stuck in a defensive approach. In my opinion, this was a very poor showing."

Brazil performed poorly throughout the match and conceded first, with Irankunda scoring from a free kick in the second half. Brazil equalized only in the final stages through a Rayan header.

This was Brazil's first match since the 2026 World Cup, where they were eliminated by Norway in the round of 16. Next Wednesday, Brazil will face Australia again, followed by a match against India on October 3.
