According to Spurs-web, former Tottenham Hotspur captain Son recently spoke about how Kane developed into one of the most lethal strikers in world football, praising his former teammate's relentless work ethic.

It has been a year since Son left Tottenham in 2025, ending a decade of service in North London.

The South Korean star achieved considerable success during his time at Tottenham Hotspur: he won the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2021/22 season with 23 goals, becoming the first Asian player to do so; in 2020, he won the FIFA Puskás Award for his spectacular solo run against Dan Burn; he was also named to the 2020/21 PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

However, his biggest achievement at N17 was winning the Carabao Cup. Son said: "Let me put it this way, I think I am a legend, why not! No one has done it in 17 years, and today is the moment. Today I want to say I am a legend of this club. Let's enjoy this moment together. It feels amazing. It's what I've dreamed of, and now the dream has come true. I'm the happiest person in the world."

Son recalls his partnership with Kane at Tottenham Hotspur

Son, now playing for LAFC in Major League Soccer, continues to perform at a high level, directly contributing to 43 goals in 49 appearances—20 goals and 23 assists.

However, Son was by no means the only world-class player at Tottenham Hotspur in recent years; his former teammate Kane is a legend in his own right.

Kane is Tottenham Hotspur's all-time leading scorer with 280 goals and 63 assists in 435 appearances. Son now reveals just how good Kane is and the dedication he invested to reach that level.

Speaking on "The Late Run Show" podcast, he said: "He wasn't naturally gifted—Harry obviously has amazing talent, but he worked incredibly hard to reach this level. Even now, after training, he'll likely stay on the pitch for an extra 10 to 20 minutes every day practicing his shooting. That's what makes him a special player."

"We had amazing chemistry and understood each other perfectly. With him by my side, I think anyone could have achieved the same success because he's so special—he makes the players around him shine. It was a great honor to form such a partnership with him."

Kane and Son's record-breaking connection

Kane would undoubtedly say the same about Son, as they were incredibly effective together in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt. Although the attacking duo did not win any trophies together, both made history and etched their names into the record books.

Kane and Son hold the record for the most Premier League goals assisted by one another, combining for 47 goals. They broke the previous record of 36 held by Drogba and Lampard. Son assisted Kane 23 times, while Kane assisted Son 24 times.

They also jointly hold the record for the most combined goals in a single Premier League season, with 14 in the 2020/21 season.

Kane continues to shine at the highest level with Bayern Munich, reaching remarkable new heights. He has already scored over 100 goals for the German giants and holds the record for the fastest to reach the century mark in Bundesliga history.

Kane is now a member of the 100-goal club in both the Premier League and the Bundesliga. Son is also a member of the Premier League's 100-goal club.

Kane's form has been outstanding, including scoring 73 goals in all competitions across a calendar year, which ranks second all-time and makes him a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or. Tim Sherwood has backed him to win the award.

Tottenham Hotspur undoubtedly miss a player of this caliber, a point Steven Gerrard highlighted after Tottenham's recent league defeat to Aston Villa.

He said: "I would say that Tottenham have signed many quality players, and you can see the squad is full of very good players."

"But when I look at this Tottenham team, I don't see that world-class superstar. For example, Kane has obviously left. However, if you're an opposing player or manager facing this Tottenham team, I think they can be stopped."
