According to Japanese media outlet Hochi, Japan national team coach Hajime Moriyasu confirmed at a pre-match press conference on September 30 that goalkeeper Zion Suzuki will start in the friendly against Ecuador on October 1. 

Previously, in the match against Venezuela, Suzuki made a clear error after coming on as a substitute in the second half, but Moriyasu still expressed his confidence in him.

When discussing the choice for the goalkeeper position, Moriyasu stated, "For tomorrow's match, as long as Zion has no issues in training, I will arrange for him to start."

Zion Suzuki had previously undergone individual training adjustments during this training camp due to rib pain, but his ability is beyond doubt. After joining Aston Villa this season, he was also named the club's Player of the Month in September. When asked about the goalkeeper's performance and development, Moriyasu commented, "The stage he is on is not one where you can easily gain recognition just by transferring there, but he has shown calm performances since his debut. Whether in stopping opponent attacks or acting as a starting point for offense, he has earned great trust from the team. However, in my eyes, Zion hasn't changed. Moriyasu added, "His manners, as well as his attitude on and off the field, continuously embody the virtues and culture of the Japanese people, and in this regard, I believe he has remained consistent."
