According to Manchester Evening News, 15-year-old Manchester United prospect JJ Gabriel still hopes to leave the club and is currently using the international break to train in Catalonia to maintain his fitness while awaiting clarity on his future.

Gabriel is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in football, but uncertainty surrounding his future persists. He is currently in Spain, planning his next steps in his career.

Last month, Gabriel formally requested to terminate his contract with Manchester United, but the club's management rejected the request, determined to retain the young player. With his future uncertain, he has been training in Barcelona with his personal coach Jake Hunter at the British School pitch in Castelldefels, aiming to maintain his fitness. Gabriel and his family frequently visit Barcelona and are interested in joining the club in the future. Meanwhile, Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho has also reportedly expressed interest in signing him. However, Barcelona's sporting director Deco dismissed the speculation during his appearance at a Portuguese football summit.

Regarding Gabriel, Deco said: "There's nothing to say about this kid. It's natural that players get linked with us; it always happens. There's a big market behind it, with many interests involved, even for young players. But we're not interested in any player in his situation. I'm not sure what's actually happening now, or whether he's still a Manchester United player. We're not involved in this. Before trying to do anything, we first need to understand the specific situation. Talking about young players, teenage players, is not something we should be doing."

Gabriel will turn 16 next week, but under regulations, he cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 17. Faced with the considerable attention this has generated, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick recently called for calm regarding the young player.

Commenting on Gabriel's situation, Carrick said: "I'm just repeating what I've said before: he's still a child, and it's important not to divulge any details here. We have to be careful with the attention and scrutiny he receives, stay rational, and think about it. Everything will sort itself out."
