The controversy surrounding Ronaldo has impacted the Portuguese national team's social media presence. In just over 24 hours, the official account of the Portuguese national team saw its follower count drop from 25 million to 24.1 million, losing nearly 1 million followers.

A flood of related comments has inundated the Portuguese national team's posts, and even the comments section on the Portuguese women's national team's photos has been overwhelmed by messages discussing Ronaldo in multiple languages.

At 02:45 CET on October 1, the account had 25,004,030 followers; exactly 24 hours later, at 02:45 CET on October 2, this number had dropped to 24,118,443.

Previously, thousands of users commented that they would no longer support the Portuguese national team and would unfollow the team's account due to Ronaldo's departure. The decline in followers indicates that many users followed through on this statement. As of 03:37 CET on October 2, the account had 24,070,773 followers, approximately 24.07 million.
