According to Mundo Deportivo, Erling Haaland has filed a lawsuit against Norwegian Air through his company, accusing the airline of unauthorized use of his image during the World Cup.

The Manchester City striker enjoys considerable popularity and remains a hot topic both on and off the pitch. However, this time he has encountered a less pleasant side of that prominence.

Erling Haaland, through his company York Promotions, filed a lawsuit claiming that the airline illegally used his distinctive features to promote airline tickets. His lawyer Thomas Hagen confirmed the news, according to Norwegian publication VG.

The dispute arose from a promotional campaign launched by Norwegian Air during the World Cup. The company posted on social media an image of an airplane with a long golden tail decorating its fuselage, an apparent reference to Erling Haaland's iconic hairstyle. The caption read: "We've never been more Norwegian."

After receiving the lawsuit, Norwegian Air removed the image from social media, but the airline's account of events differs completely from the player's version. Norwegian Air considers the lawsuit "confusing" and stated that the post was merely a show of support for the Norwegian national team, based on popular content circulating on social media.

Nevertheless, the dispute has escalated to legal proceedings. The Oslo District Court scheduled preliminary hearings for both parties on October 9. This will be the first step in the entire process; if Erling Haaland and Norwegian Air cannot reach an agreement beforehand, the case could eventually go to trial.

Ironically, the element the airline used to reference the striker is now part of the past. After the World Cup, Erling Haaland cut off that famous tail, bidding farewell to one of his most recognizable looks in recent years. Now that same tail has become the subject of a legal dispute between the striker and a major company in his home country.
