Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris has provided an update on the team's injury situation.

Sunderland defender Dan Ballard will be sidelined for several weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Northern Ireland.

There are also concerns about striker Brian Brobbey's availability for Saturday's match against Brighton. However, Régis Le Bris confirmed that the injury Brobbey sustained playing for the Netherlands against Germany is a "short-term injury."

Le Bris said: "Ballard's situation is unfortunate because he was performing well. He will be out for several weeks with a mid-term injury. We will keep everyone updated on his condition.

"As for Brobbey, he and Habib Diallo are progressing well in their recovery, and they will be back soon.

"Brobbey's injury is a short-term issue, which is very positive; we were quite worried initially. He himself isn't overly concerned because he has experienced various types of injuries before, and this one is not serious.

"We won't take unnecessary risks, but his absence won't be prolonged.

"Habib Diallo is very close to returning. His recovery is progressing well. He has completed almost all the training required for a full return, so he should be available in about a week."
