Olmo scored 12 goals in his first season with Barcelona in 2024/2025. While he isn't a natural goalscorer and it's not his primary role, he has a strong ability to make runs into the box. He is currently experiencing a goal drought, but he has compensated for this with assists (3 this season), game reading, winning back possession, and creating space for teammates. However, it's clear he needs to regain the satisfaction of scoring quickly to alleviate this pressure. He can create chances and get into scoring positions; he just needs his shooting accuracy and finishing touch to return.

In Saturday's match against Getafe, Olmo had two shots, one of which was on target and saved brilliantly by David Soria. So far this season, he has taken 12 shots, five of which came in the Champions League match against Feyenoord, all on target. He has consistently shown a clear attacking inclination.
Nearly Seven Months Without a Goal
Especially in recent matches, despite his excellent performance, it's evident that Olmo has been searching for that elusive goal to break the deadlock. When he encountered a goalkeeper like Getafe's David Soria, who made a superb save to deny him, his expression said it all.
In fact, Olmo's last goal for Barcelona dates back to March 15 against Sevilla. He received a pass from Bernal, made a quick run forward, and scored with a low right-footed shot. He celebrated with joy as that goal helped Barcelona make it 3-0, ultimately leading to a 5-2 victory. He is eager to score again now, as he has played 22 matches for Barcelona since then, but has not scored again.
He has also failed to break this goal drought with the Spanish national team. Olmo has scored 12 goals in 61 international appearances, a strong average, and has consistently performed well, earning the full trust of Luis de la Fuente. His last goal was on November 18, 2024, in a World Cup qualifier where Spain drew 2-2 with Turkey at La Cartuja, with an assist from Cucurella. Since then, he has continued to provide assists, totaling six.
Olmo's next chance to break this goal drought will be in the Champions League next Tuesday. He started against Getafe, and Flick might initially opt for Fermín, but if Olmo gets playing time, the Catalan player will surely strive to score while continuing to contribute in other ways to the team. His last European goal for Barcelona was on January 21 this year, away against Prague.
