According to the latest report from Samuel Luckhurst, The Sun's Manchester United correspondent, the club's leadership has privately acknowledged that their performance in the summer transfer window was disappointing.

United won only one of their opening six Premier League matches, marking their worst start to a season in 40 years. They were also eliminated from the League Cup by Brighton, increasing pressure on manager Erik ten Hag, with club leadership dissatisfied with the second phase of their squad rebuilding.
Last summer, United spent £225.2 million to bring in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško, and Lisandro Martínez, but summer spending this year dropped to £155 million. Levi Colwill has been identified as a long-term target for United.
However, insiders at United have acknowledged that Youri Tielemans and Kalvin Phillips were not among the club's priority transfer targets. Anderson, Bruno Fernandes, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Ederson were United's top choices, but the club was unable to complete any of these deals.
United was particularly disappointed over failing to complete the Ederson deal after a medical examination revealed serious knee problems, forcing the club to withdraw. Leadership also expressed frustration over failing to sign a left-back, despite initial contact with Tyrick Mitchell.
