Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount previously discussed this season's Champions League during an interview with the club's media. He stated that the key to Champions League matches lies in the performance on the night, with each match being special, while emphasizing the significant support that Manchester United fans provide to the team, both at home and away.

Mount himself has won the Champions League and knows what it takes to go all the way in the competition. He believes his Manchester United teammates are competitive.

Regarding the Champions League, Mount said: "In a competition like this, the key is one evening, and what you can do on that night."

"Compared to the league, where there are so many matches, home and away, and many different variables."

"In the Champions League, as long as you perform well in that match, whether at home or away, you can really go for it."

At the time of the interview, Manchester United had not yet learned its specific opponents for the Champions League group stage. However, whether it's newcomers Shakhtar Donetsk—whom Manchester United already defeated 4-0 in their first Champions League match this season—or former Champions League finalists Atlético Madrid, every match in this European club competition is very important to Mount.

Mount said: "Every match is special."

"Playing under the lights, with late kickoffs, against a team that comes here to win."

"These matches are always special; you have to prepare well, get into the match from the first whistle, and be ready to compete."

The iconic Champions League anthem also affects the players. Mount admitted that the music put him "in the zone." This anthem will also be heard at King Abdullah Sports City before Manchester United's away match against Atlético Madrid at 3 a.m. Beijing time (CET) on Wednesday.

Then, the stadium noise could be dominated by passionate local supporters, but Manchester United will also have a large traveling support.

Speaking about Manchester United fans, Mount said: "Whether at home or away, they are always very important to us."

"They always show up, at every match we play, you can always hear them."

"They are really very important to us. In difficult moments, they encourage us; when we play very well, they support us and help us keep going."
