Owen had previously predicted that Pep Guardiola's departure, coupled with the exits of key players such as Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and John Stones, would hinder Manchester City's title prospects this season. However, he has now changed his mind, believing Manchester City has the strength to contend with Arsenal.

"Their performance has impressed me greatly; to be honest, I had doubts before the season started.
"You have to consider that the team lost two highly influential figures in football: Guardiola and Rodri. Additionally, with Bernardo Silva, John Stones, and others leaving, it meant over twenty championship medals were lost from the dressing room.
"This is a significant loss for the club. After a successful manager's long tenure, how many teams can continue to shine? The successor almost always inherits a poisoned chalice.
"There were so many reasons at the time to believe Manchester City would struggle. While they still had excellent players and invested in new signings, their opponent was Arsenal, a well-oiled machine that had just won the league.
"I initially thought Manchester City would have a tough time competing for the league title. Don't get me wrong, I still believe Arsenal is the hardest team to beat, but Manchester City's performance has truly surprised me; they look fully capable of challenging for the championship."
Owen continued: "I think Manchester City's decision to appoint Maresca, largely continuing the team's existing system, was a stroke of genius.
"Although Maresca has managed other clubs, he previously worked at Manchester City. Some players know him, and he is familiar with the club, the tactical system, and all its aspects.
"The team's playing style has transitioned almost seamlessly; this move was truly brilliant. Frankly, their performances on the pitch constantly surprise me."
Although Owen still favours Arsenal to win the title, his former teammate Steven Gerrard has completely changed his view. After witnessing Manchester City's strong performance over the weekend, Gerrard now believes Manchester City are the clear favourites for the championship.
"Before the season started, I expected Arsenal to continue their strong form. But now that six or seven rounds of the league have been played, I would bet on Manchester City. After watching yesterday's match, I would pick Manchester City. This team is too strong, and looking at their bench makes it even clearer."
