The former Barcelona and Juve defender spoke about his difficult years during his trial and imprisonment. He is now an evangelical preacher.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, D.Alves won many honors during his career. Whether in Brazil, Spain, France or Italy, the former defender achieved significant success and won the love of fans. However, all of this has been lost in recent years. He became the focus of attention due to an investigation into underage sexual assault and rape, and although he was later acquitted, the player born in 1983 still served more than a year in prison, which also made him re-evaluate his previous actions. The following are his original words.
D.Alves and prison: "I used to ask myself, what's the use of money without God? Now I'm different."
D.Alves has now become a missionary. He said that he was happier in prison than when he was a professional player earning millions of euros a year: "I earned millions of euros through God and football, but in prison, I only received 113 euros a month, but I was happier than before..."
"I earned millions of euros through God, although I didn't see Him then, and I earned a lot of money through football. But in prison, with 113 euros a month, I am happier than when I earned millions of euros."
He also told his followers how he came to God and found happiness during his imprisonment: "I used to play football, and then I did cleaning work in prison. But God was always with me, so I said to myself, 'What's the value of millions of euros without God?'"
