Internazionale winger Dimarco spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the new season and the team's goals after winning the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.

Could you tell us how you're approaching this new beginning, and what goals you have as you restart after such a brilliant season last year?

Dimarco: "The goals must always be kept to a high standard. We must always have the desire to improve ourselves. After every season, everything resets to zero, and we have to start from scratch because you no longer have the advantages accumulated in the previous year. All teams are back on the same starting line. Our goal is to continue doing what we did last year."

Club president Marotta, in his first press conference, spoke about the so-called "victory syndrome," which is the difficulty all Italian teams face in maintaining success after winning a championship. Since 2020, no team has successfully defended the league title after winning it. How do you avoid complacency in the team? Because it's easy to say, but it's another thing entirely on the field.

Dimarco: "You overcome it through serious training. You have to maintain desire and passion, and follow the coach's demands. Most importantly, always maintain a hunger for victory; that's the most crucial thing. If you have the desire to win, then you're already one step ahead from the start."

Last year you told us that to focus and respond to criticism from the previous season, you chose to isolate yourself. You then had an MVP-level Serie A season. Now, after winning two trophies and contributing 18 assists in a single season, external expectations will inevitably increase. How do you find new motivation?

Dimarco: "I always try to do my best and help the team as much as I can. Whether it was after the Champions League defeat or after winning the double last year, my training approach hasn't changed. I always strive to give my all. Sometimes the results are better, sometimes they might not be as ideal. But to have a clear conscience, you must always give 100%; that's the basis for continuing to grow every day."

As last season ended, some key members of the team left, especially those who were part of the team's historical core. How do you view this restarting Internazionale? And what responsibilities do you, as the most experienced players now, bear?

Dimarco: "First, I want to thank all the players who left, because they were instrumental in creating a piece of Internazionale's history. Those of us who have been here longer – me, Barella, Bastoni, Lautaro, Calhanoglu, and other teammates – need to convey to the new and young players what it means to play for Internazionale, what it means to wear this jersey. This is not an ordinary jersey. We all know what the San Siro represents. We need everyone's support: we need the fans' support, and we need to support each other. Because we must push each other to keep Internazionale at the highest level."

You just talked about young players. There are some young players now starting their professional careers and dreaming of having a career like yours. I'm thinking of Stankovic, and also Mosconi. Stankovic, in particular, once said that you were like an older brother to him. What advice have you given him during these training days?

Dimarco: "I think he needs to enjoy every minute of being here. He must focus on working hard, growing every day, and helping the team. He is a midfielder with different characteristics, distinct from the other midfielders we currently have in the squad. I know him better, and I can say he's a very good kid. He has a strong desire to work and he also loves Internazionale very much. He proves it every day. I hope he can continue to do so in the future."

How do you view this Internazionale team now? In your opinion, who are the main rivals for the Serie A title and other domestic competitions?

Dimarco: "The Internazionale I see is the same as in previous years: it's a team setting out to challenge for the Serie A title. Regardless of past successes, we have never hidden this goal. I believe all teams start the competition from the same point. Of course, teams not participating in the Champions League might have a slight advantage, as the Champions League consumes a lot of energy.

The main rivals will be: AC Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Roma, and Atalanta. Como is also strengthening. Throughout the season, many teams have the ability to show their strength."
