Schalke 04's starting center-back Hasan Kurucay is in the final year of his contract, which expires at the end of the current season. However, the club has not yet initiated renewal talks with him, leaving the 29-year-old quite disappointed.

Kurucay delivered an excellent performance in Schalke 04's 0-0 draw against Elversberg. After the match, he spoke about his future: "The club hasn't said anything to me. Of course, when I see my teammates getting new contracts for their good performances, I feel a bit disappointed."

Schalke has recently extended contracts with players like Fauzi, Luca Vozal, and Vitalie Becker, but Kurucay has yet to receive any clear signals for negotiations. However, he is not anxious about it: "I won't be without a club. I have nothing to rush about."

Schalke's Sporting Director Frank Baumann stated that the club recognizes Kurucay's performance but currently has other priorities: "We will sit down and talk with Hasan and his agent at the appropriate time."
