Inter forward Pio Esposito and his brother, Sassuolo forward Sebastiano Esposito, recently gave an interview on the Italian Football Federation's Vivo Azzurro live broadcast.

The two were selected for the national team coached by Mancini to play in the UEFA Nations League. In a joint interview, they discussed their shared experience with the national team.

Pio Esposito: "The first four times I didn't play well, so I said let me try—it couldn't get any worse than that anyway."

The two also revealed in a game who was most like whom. For example, Sebastiano is the messiest, or it could be that both of them are messy. Pio is the most sensitive, Sebastiano is most often late, and he is also the most superstitious.

Sebastiano Esposito: "When I was at Brescia, my brother scored his first goal for the national team."

Pio Esposito: "There are many new faces here, many young players, which is very good and will help with the restart. We need this. I also know how much the veterans care and how sad they are about not making it to the World Cup; I experienced that firsthand. In short, it's a good blend."

Sebastiano Esposito: "My experience in youth academies made me better understand the importance of the national team. I once lost the U17 European Championship final. This helps you continue to grow as a person and in the jersey you wear. That feeling is different from playing important matches for Inter; we are fortunate at the club, but representing the national team is completely another matter."

Sebastiano Esposito: "We used to bully him, stuffing him into the goal to make him grow. Salvatore (the third of the three Esposito brothers, currently playing for Sampdoria, also formerly at Inter, editor's note) and I would shoot, and he would be the goalkeeper. We almost convinced him to become a goalkeeper, but then he grew up and changed his mind."

Pio Esposito: "After all, it's not easy to be a goalkeeper for the national team."

Sebastiano Esposito: "Yeah (laughs), I guess he saw Gigio and seriously reconsidered becoming a goalkeeper."

"Before coming here, we went to Cicerone. Pio doesn't remember that the original field there was concrete and was later rebuilt by the municipality, only to fall into disrepair again over time, and no one wanted to fix it. But our childhood was spent there—we always went to that field because we loved football. That field helped us a lot: we want to bring young people back on the right track; it's easy to go astray, but we hope children can find the right path."

Pio Esposito: "My mother is sad that we are all away from home, so we won't hesitate to go home and see her whenever we get the chance. She deserves it because they always put us first, above everything. Now it's our turn to reciprocate. They made many sacrifices to arrange everything for us to play at Inter; we play different positions, so we coordinate with each other. We really put in a lot of effort."
