According to Portuguese media outlet SIC, Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, received a call from Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who specifically requested to speak with Jorge Jesus.

Cristiano Ronaldo announced on social media that he has decided to withdraw from the current Portugal national team training camp. This decision was made after head coach Jorge Jesus's press conference and after a conversation with Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Luís Montenegro spoke with national team coach Jorge Jesus; on the same day, Ronaldo announced his withdrawal from the national team training camp.

SIC reported that Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, received a call from the Prime Minister, who specifically requested to speak with Jorge Jesus.

On Wednesday, Ronaldo announced on social media that he had decided to withdraw from the national team training camp — this came after head coach Jorge Jesus had just held a press conference and Ronaldo himself had spoken with Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

"When the time is right, I will tell all Portuguese people the real reasons that led me to leave the national team. I have always given my all for this team. Now, I only wish good luck to Portugal and every one of my teammates, without exception."

Last week, the Portuguese forward started against Wales in Lisbon, playing 67 minutes in a 1-0 victory, which was Jorge Jesus's debut as national team coach. Three days later, the captain did not feature in the match against Norway in Oslo, with Portugal winning 2-1. He left the pitch immediately after the final whistle — clearly unhappy after remaining on the bench during the warm-up and not greeting the travelling Portuguese fans with his teammates.

Since then, reports of a rift between Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus have intensified, particularly following the coach's recent public statements. Jorge Jesus acknowledged that the captain was dissatisfied and, recognizing his captaincy, conceded that he may have made errors in player management. However, he neither confirmed that Ronaldo would play in Thursday's match nor announced Gonçalo Ramos as a starter in advance.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) confirmed the forward's departure from the training camp, stating that preparations are continuing as planned, with the team focused on the away match against Denmark and Sunday's home game against Norway in Porto.
