In an interview at the Trento Sports Festival, Sneijder recalled Inter Milan's treble-winning season and discussed how he struggled following his parents' deaths.

Sneijder said, "It was a special year. Mourinho called me and said I was the missing piece his team needed, and we would win together. A few months later, I understood why. When I arrived at Inter Milan, the team beat AC Milan 4-0."

Reflecting on former teammates Chivu and Zanetti, Sneijder recalled, "Making my debut and playing in the Champions League was my dream. That Ajax team was incredible, and young Chivu was already a leader. Christian and I knew each other since childhood, and I liked him a lot." He also remembered that Inter Milan's dressing room atmosphere was relaxed, but Zanetti was always the first to arrive and the last to leave, drinking only water. Once, Zanetti even drank Coke after a victory.

On the 2010 Champions League final, Sneijder said, "We were confident we would win, and that was thanks to Mourinho. I knew we would win, I just didn't know by how many goals. I didn't expect Mourinho to leave that night. He was brilliant psychologically." Sneijder also recounted an incident after Maicon was suspended: Mourinho didn't scold Maicon; instead, he sent him back to Brazil for two weeks.

Sneijder also touched on the 2010 World Cup final and the Ballon d'Or: "Casillas's save was unfortunate; if not for that save, we would have won. I don't care about the Ballon d'Or; winning the Champions League and achieving the historic treble with Inter Milan was enough." He said that after Mourinho left, he and Eto'o felt something had changed in the team. A few seasons later, Inter Milan decided to cut his salary, and both parties no longer had the conditions to continue their partnership.

After retirement, Sneijder chose not to return to football. He said his mother died shortly after becoming ill, and his father passed away afterward. He spent three years focusing on his family, a very difficult period during which he gained weight and was not in good condition. Now he is trying to recover and has participated in the reality show "Football Island," where 11 former Dutch players play football on an island without food.
