There are reports an investigation is underway into the Serie B game against Spezia that saw Parma secure promotion.

Sportitalia and the Corriere dello Sport claim the FIGC has been looking into the match and have seen enough evidence to pursue the matter further.

Parma won 2-0 away to Spezia with two goals from Amato Ciciretti.

When it was still at 1-0, Spezia were awarded a penalty, which ex-Parma striker Alberto Gilardino blasted over the bar.

The victory enabled Parma’s historic third consecutive promotion after going bankrupt and starting again from Serie D in 2015.

However, it would not have been enough without Frosinone fumbling a lead to draw 2-2 with Foggia in a simultaneous match.

In that game, Foggia had earlier scored a remarkable own goal with Matteo Rubin.
